Baseball Caps 2024 At Arizona State - University of Nevada Las Vegas Athletics (2024)

PHOENIX (UNLVrebels.com) –The UNLV baseball team (26-26) continued their stay out east over the weekend to round out the 2024 regular season, playing in a rematch againstArizona State (31-24) on Saturday night. The Hustlin' Rebels repeated their offensive prowess for a second-straight night with multiple home runs again, but eventually fell to the Sun Devils on a 14-13 final score.

Graduate Student Austin Kryszczuk continued his tremendous final stretch of the season with another two home runs against Arizona State, the Las Vegas native firing a three-run slam in the top of the first and a screaming grand slam in the top of the third inning. He'd total seven RBI overall in the contest off of those two hits alone, Alex Pimentel also snagging a home run of his own in the top of the fourth inning for a second-straight inning of runs for the Rebels.

Alongside Pimentel's RBI walk, the Rebels had three other student-athletes in their lineup that were credited with an RBI by the end of nine innings. JP Hefft joined the aforementioned senior players who earned an RBI by way of a walk, Chase Ditmar and Paul Myro IV each picking up theirs in the top of the sixth inning. Both batters made contact with the ball on their plays with the bases loaded, Chase Ditmar sending a dribbler to the pitcher and Myro IV knocking a fielder's choice to the shortstop.

Out of UNLV's seven hits in the contest, Parker Schmidt found his early in the contest on a single in that first-inning, three-run startup. The team had strong at bats overall in the game with 12 walks in the contest; Hefft, Pimentel, Ditmar and Myro IV each finding a pair with Kryszczuk getting hit by a pitch on two separate occasions.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Austin Kryszczuk's run finished on Saturday with five home runs in the last three games for UNLV, hitting a team-leading 19 overall on the 2024 season. His seven RBI would tie a career-high mark and his 75 on the season would easily mark a single-season high.
- The Rebels' 12 walks tied a season-high for the program during 2024, the third time they reached a dozen in a single game this season.
- The Scarlet & Gray's 13 runs tallied the 18th time this season the program reached double-digit runs in 2024, only completing the feat 13 times in 2023.
- UNLV's run streak continued through the 2024 season, scoring at least one run in the last 206 games they've played that dates back to the 2021 season.
