I just had that thought while I was editing some of the eclipse images, and hit the B&W button in Lr just for fun... I was wondering if anyone here has photographed the eclipse with the Monochrome version of the K-3 Mark III ?
(I think I'll also ask that question in the dedicated K-3 Mark III thread)

It's cool to see the kind of radiance that comes out with increased clarity in some photos with a greater exposure.

We only got about 80% of totality here in northern Michigan, but I took a few snaps just so I could see it. I didn't get the special glasses because I assumed it would be cloudy (as it usually is this time of year). I shot it with an old K-5 and the FA 80-320. I suppose I could have used my DA* 300 plus the 1.4x converter, but I didn't have any strong ND filters for that set-up, so I went with the FA zoom. It provided me with decent snapshots, which is all that I was after.

Pentaxian

I took just a couple of “grab shots”. So much is going on I didn’t want to spend a lot of time taking photos.

This was my fourth total eclipse.

My recommendation for everyone for their first total is not to take photos- the experience is so overwhelming you want to take in as much as you can.

Thank you very much! This is the type of scene I wanted to capture, one contrasting a cosmic event above a scene of human scale and with human interest, as well as a sense of place.

My eclipse trip to Kerrville was fun, and tiring. I did some regular photography in addition to the attempts at the eclipse.

The eclipse was mostly clouded out, and was fraught with equipment issues (poor tracking on one mount,my first attempt at automated shooting not being in time with the actual eclipse etc...)
With such limited views of the sun it was hard to get proper focus so I got what I could. My Celestron Evolution that I set up for visual worked great so we were able to view partial phases through the clouds on occasion.

I did manage to get glimpses of totality through a couple of sucker holes and was able to see one or two porminences naked eye which was astounding to me.

That said, here's the few of my images from the eclipse. I apologize for the poor quality. These were they only ones with the Pentax. I did get some other ones with my Canon 70D.
