I’m seeing $350 now for the Fell Beast on marketplace. Sure feel for the one who is gonna pay that vs $130-$250.

Brickcross, Ominous Island and Mushroom House all got passed the 3000 pre-order threshold. The other 2 is on the way.
Edit:
All 5 sets are funded now.

Yep. Ominous Isle has a chance too.
Mushroom House is a surprise though. It is cute, but I never thought it would be a hit.

Learned sameway like you. I'm sticking to a few themes, can't buy everything and limited space to store things safely.. basem*nt could be the worst places I think.
Agree... if selling, for me is more to maintain my hobby. MSRPs for lego takes the fun out of it these past few years.
Agree below too, wait for sales or promos if possible. Helps with ROI. Bricklink is a decent platform to start research, etc.
Friends has released some very good sets in recent years, like the Botanical Garden and Community Center, but for resale value, the whole theme is still largely a dud. I learned that now, so if I ever get Friends sets, it will only be to build. I really like the Botanical Garden and the Community Center, because with some adjustments, they can fit very well in LEGO cities.
I am glad I at least attempted to sell, because now I learned the reality, this should maintain a hobby more than anything. Selling should be just supplementary to help offset some costs.

I couldn't pass up on $120 modular sets from the US when currency was par and loaded up and that kind of kick started by Lego buying problem. I always had dreams of building a large city in my basem*nt, maybe when I retire.
My rule of thumbs are simple, only buy sets I would want to build. If I don't want it, I don't want to hold it either. The only "downside" I have is more Lego to build later.
I usually only buy large sets (technic cars, modular sets, Ninjago, etc.) or unloved sets on steep discount. Not a SW fan but one of the best deal I got was buying 8 sets 10215 for $60 a pop after tax from TRU during bricktober to get the free gifts. I forgot about them, then they became $200+, I think I still have one sitting around in the basem*nt.
Now a days, the prices are high, discounts are low, I only buy for myself, maybe an extra set in case I wanted one more later or >30% discount. If you are looking to invest, Lego really isn't the best option, mainly due to space. Just buy stocks or bitcoin if that's your thing.
Good advice. I just dipped my toe in it, and honestly, I did not like the experience too much.
The market is far saturated, like you mentioned. These days, it seems like everyone and his or her grandma sell LEGO. It is not the best time to be an "investor".

This series seems to sell a lot slower than the last one. The only set left that might sell out is Ominous Isle, and the other two might not get past even the halfway point. I thought for sure The Ocean House would sell better, but one reviewer pointed out a structural issue with the roof, as it falls apart too easily when moved.

I ordered 1 each of Ominous Isle, the train station and the mushroom house. Originally wasn't planning to get the mushroom house, but when I saw how fast it was selling, FOMO kicked in.
As for reselling, my sentiment is the same as others, I only buy what I don't mind keeping for myself. And running out of storage space has made me become even more picky. I'll sometimes buy 2 of certain sets like modulars or Star Wars as those tend to do well as investments. Over the years, pirate ships and realistic trains have also done well, but they don't come out too often. The saturation of the reselling market has made it necessary to hang onto sets much longer than in the past. Most sets appreciate a decent amount if you hang onto them long enough. The only real duds are the weird niche themes that don't otherwise fit into City or Castle or anything

Man, I get mad at LEGO every time I see updates on its increasing value. The set was right there within my grasp, and I paid for it too, but the store just would not let me have it.

Yep, the aftermarket prices far exceeded my expectations. Initially I thought I would be fine, but the resentment just continues to build up with every new update, so it will be a while before I am laid back and fun again. Ugh...

Lego msrp was like $40 for this gwp behind a $600 set. Give it some time, it's just supply and demand, not a lot of supply aftermarket since it's only in-store buyers getting gwp in thier hands on it first. Ur still laid back and fun. Lol

There is a difference between "investment" and consuming. Investors are following blogs about which sets will be hot, and buying up dozens of them to hold and eventually send into FBA after retirement. If you're buying Lego to build but you're influenced by the possibility of recouping your money down the line, you're consuming.
The way I look at Lego is that I am renting it. I don't expect to break even. Most sets I only buy if I can get them for 30-40 percent off, either through sales/clearance, or leveraging cashback and selling GWPs. I also try to prioritize buying sets that are closer to retirement.
For example, I probably would have bought the Boutique Hotel at Costco if I saw it before it sold out. It was $200. $5-$10 cashback via Costco+credit card cash back. Let's call it $215 all in for a $300 retail set. There is less demand for complete and built sets on places like eBay, but even know it isn't retired it still sells for $200 built on eBay. Sometimes less, sometimes more. Assume $30-$40 in eBay fees. In worst case scenario you're spending $50 to build and rent the set for however long you choose to display it. In a best case scenario, you're breaking even.
I think it is a good idea to teach kids to keep their sets tidy and together, and maybe even to have an area where they can choose to display the ones they built if they want to. With that said, it's a unrealistic to expect a kid to keep a set complete. They are toys meant to be played with. Lego Friends is about make belief and pretend. Best case scenario, try to avoid doing the thing parents do where they throw every single Lego piece in a bin and at least keep what is left of the sets separated so that when your kid is a teenager who will almost certainly not be into Lego Friends, they can sell the sets and use the money on teenage things like My Chemical Romance concert tickets. (sorry, I'm dating myself)
I will tell my grandchildren about the deal I got on an HP Touchpad at the Bank street staples thanks to rfding.

that's unfortunate, did you only try to get it in store? After the Mimic sold out so fast with the D&D set I was taking no chances with the Fell Beast. Although I almost blew it, instead of ordering at 9:00:00.001pm Pacific like I was planning, I forgot until a bit after midnight. Fortunately it hadn't sold out by then. Missing out sucks, but I find it goes away quick when they're churning out so many other good sets. Plus you can always buy one on the secondary market if you're a Fell Beast super-fan. It's just an annoying amount of $, not a life-changing amount of $.
I took another look ahead in the Bricklink series and I'm probably in for all 5 sets in Series 3. Series 4 will probably cheaper as only the Seaside Market and Siege Encampment are sure things for me. Maybe the Wild West Train since it's well done. I haven't gone through all the submissions for Series 5, but Adventure In Transylvania is spectacular. Done by the same person who already had Mountain Fortress and Siege Encampment get lined up for production. He can retire just based on his Lego earnings!
