un at the ole ball park Ejections arguments near fights highlight Braves Pirates slugfest ATLANTA (AP) "That's the worst excuse for um piring I've ever seen in my life" said catcher Ed Ott of the Pittsburgh Pirates let that ball game get com pletely out of hand" It was wild indeed with the Pirates erupting for seven ninth inning unearned runs including a grand slam homer by John Milner in a 17 9 victory over the Atlanta Braves Wednesday night The game also featured two solo homers by Bill Robinson and a grand slam by Atlanta's Gary Matthews Before the 3 hour 42 minute slugfest had ended there were two near brawls in the ninth inning four Pirates and one Brave were ejected both teams played the game under protest and four players were hit by pitches In other National League action Wednesday Cincinnati topped Chicago 7 4 San rancisco blasted Montreal 9 2 Houston edged St Louis 5 4 in 16 innings Philadelphia blanked San Diego 2 0 and Los Angeles dropped New York 7 2 In the American League Oakland eased past Baltimore 4 2 Boston out hit California 9 8 New York zapped Seattle 5 0 Chicago nipped Detroit 5 4 Cleveland out scored Milwaukee 8 7 and Kansas City dumped Texas 4 3 was the wildest game ever been involved in without question in my whole career" said Pirate Manager Chuck Tanner an ejection victim along with coach Joe Lonnett Dave Parker and Rennie Stennett of the Pirates and Rowland Office of the Braves Both benches spilled onto the field twice during the ninth inning the first time when Dave Parker charged the mound after being hit by Gene Garber and then again in the bottom of the inning when Office slowly approached Pirate reliever Kent Tekulve following an inside pitch No blows were delivered and order was quickly restored both times although it appeared Parker may have taken a poke at Garber When asked about it later Parker said you see him fall?"
